Construction Training International provides specialised industry training for anyone considering a career and employment within the Construction industry.

What will I receive upon completion?

A Statement of Attainment is issued by CTI for the unit of competency completed and a Spotters Card will be sent to you from
ESV (Energy Safe Victoria).

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to perform spotting including the observation for the safe operation of plant and equipment around overhead and underground assets.

Participants need to complete one unit consisting of:
Observe for the safe operation of plant and equipment around overhead and underground assets.

Students are required to be over 18 years old, competent in written and spoken English and will undertake a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy test prior to commencing the training.


HLTAID003 PROVIDE FIRST AID, inc Current CPR and a licence in the plant or equipment that you intend to spot for.
A Dogmans licence allows you to spot for any plant or equipment.

This course is delivered over 8 hours in one day.

Courses are run regularly throughout the year. Please speak to directly to Construction Training International for exact course dates.

Normal operating hours are: 8am- 5pm.

Training and assessment will take place in RTO’s training rooms by a qualified Trainer monitoring your progress.

The course is delivered with both theory and practical elements and is completed via a simulated work environment. The delivery of training will include a mixture of classroom delivery, group discussions and individual research.

Assessment is used to provide you with feedback on your progress and to measure your skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. The assessment process may include written questions, case studies and practical demonstrations.

The cost of the course can be found on the Course Fee List. This can be accessed via the enrolment section of the CTI website or by contacting the CTI Student Administration Department.

How do I Enrol?

Enrol Online or simply complete the following steps and you could be on your way to completing the ‘Observe for the safe operation of plant and equipment around overhead and underground assets’ course.

  1. Read and understand the information contained in the Student Information Handbook
  2. Select the course you wish to undertake
  3. Identify the course fee via the Course Fee List
  4. Contact the CTI office to find out the course dates and book into a course
  5. Complete an Enrolment Form (including the LLN activity)
  6. Sign the Enrolment Form to declare that you understand all of the information provided
  7. Return the Enrolment Form to the CTI Student Administration Department with the tuition payment
