Construction Training International provides specialised industry training for anyone considering a career and employment within the Construction industry.

What will I receive upon completion?

A statement of attainment is issued by CTI and a High Risk Licence will be issued by WorkSafe Victoria, after lodging your paperwork at Australia Post within 60 days at a cost of $64.

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to operate a Portal Boom Crane including: planning the work, conducting routine checks, transferring loads in a safe manner, mobile load and shutting down and securing the crane.

Participants need to complete one unit consisting of:
Licence to operate a Portal Boom Crane

Students are required to be over 18 years old, competent in written and spoken English and will undertake a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy test prior to commencing the training.

This course is delivered over 24 Hours duration, scheduled over 3 sessions (8 hours duration each) undertaken in 3 consecutive days.

Courses are run regularly throughout the year. Please speak to directly to Construction Training International for exact course dates.

Normal operating hours are: 8am-5pm.

A Pre Requisite of this course is dogging.

All students will be required to undertake pre-course reading to ensure an understanding of the learning content that will be reviewed in the class contact time.

Once enrolled into the course, students will be provided the Learner Guide and are required to read this guide prior to attendance.

Training and assessment will take place in RTO’s training rooms by a qualified Trainer monitoring your progress.

The course is delivered with both theory and practical elements and is completed via a simulated work environment. The delivery of training will include a mixture of classroom delivery, group discussions and individual research.

Assessment is used to provide you with feedback on your progress and to measure your skills and knowledge against the training qualification requirements and those of the industry. The assessment process may include written questions, case studies and practical demonstrations.

How do I enrol?

Enrol Online or simply complete the following steps and you could be on your way to completing the ‘Licence to operate a Portal Boom Crane’ course.

  1. Read and understand the information contained in the Student Information Handbook
  2. Select the course you wish to undertake
  3. Identify the course fee via the Course Fee List
  4. Contact the CTI office to find out the course dates and book into a course
  5. Complete an Enrolment Form (including the LLN activity)
  6. Sign the Enrolment Form to declare that you understand all of the information provided
  7. Return the Enrolment Form to the CTI Student Administration Department with the tuition payment
